How to Make Your Own Scrappy Patchy Top

$15.00

Introducing the “How to Make Your Own Scrappy Patchy Top” Tutorial!

If you sew at all, you will find that you end up with a scrap collection that you may or may not know what to do with. There are a lot of different “scrap busting” projects - from stuffing pillows and bolsters with them to using them for quilts.

One of my favorite ways to use up smaller scraps is to make what I call “Scrappy Patchy” clothing, or “Trash Prevention Clothes”. In this tutorial, I will teach you how to make a “Scrappy Patchy” top using a pre-existing pattern of your choosing. I’ve included some pattern recommendations that would work well for this technique but this tutorial does notinclude a pattern.

If you want to add some cute appliqué mushrooms to your Scrappy Patchy top, check out the Mushroom Appliqué Tutorial!

Please find more information below :)

  • I’d say this technique is good for any skill level! It does take a long time though so please make sure you are well hydrated and take lots of breaks whenever needed.

  • Fabric: A light to mid-weight woven fabric like a cotton or linen works best. I do not recommend using knits for this technique.

Machines: You will need a sewing machine and a way to finish your seams, which could be with a serger or by using a zig zag stitch on the raw edges

    • an 5-minute video of me walking through the steps to make a nature top

    • a PDF of the written instructions

  • After purchasing, you will receive an email with a link to download the PDF and a link to the video.

This tutorial is for personal use only. Please do not use this to make pieces to sell. Please do not share or redistribute this tutorial (either the PDF or video) with others.

*PLEASE READ: The email with the links will be sent within a few minutes after the confirmation email. If you don’t receive it, first check your spam/junk folder. If you don’t receive it within a couple of hours, please reach out via email!
